A dedicated music experience

YouTube Music brings songs, albums, playlists and music videos into a listening-focused app. Music Premium adds ad-free music, background playback and supported downloads. This is particularly useful when you want your music to continue while the phone screen is off or another app is open.

Available recordings and video versions vary. Where the feature is supported, you can move between a song’s audio and its music video without searching for a separate upload.

Understand which subscription you need

YouTube Music Premium is focused on music benefits inside YouTube Music. The broader YouTube Premium subscription includes Music Premium alongside its video-service benefits. Check whether an existing subscription already provides the music access you want.

Use a trial to test albums, live performances and mixes you actually listen to. A creator’s sponsorship inside a recording is different from advertisements supplied by the platform.

Free access and paid renewal

Some listening is available without a paid subscription. Premium trial eligibility depends on account history and the promotion shown when you sign in. A trial should be treated as temporary access to a recurring paid service.

Confirm the price, billing provider and renewal date before activating the plan. Download availability and offline access have device and account requirements; they do not transfer ownership of the music to you.

Set up background and offline listening

Open the official Music Premium page while signed in to your Google Account. Compare the displayed subscription options and review the offer before confirming.

Install YouTube Music on a supported device, build a playlist and try background play. Download a small selection over Wi-Fi, then test it without a connection. Review download settings and storage use before enabling automatic downloads.
